ATS/ATC Device

As the ATS/ATC integrated On-board signaling system, an integrated system of automatic train stop (ATS) and automatic train control (ATC), ATS and ATC sections can be operated as a single system by establishing an optimal signal device. On-board Signaling System consists of ATS/ATC Rack, Aspect Display Unit (ADU), ATC Antenna, ATS Antenna, ATS Antena Junction Box and Tachometer.

  • Aspect Display Unit(ADU)
    The driving information such as current speed and the speed limit of the vehicle is displayed and notifies the driver of the audible warning according to the situation depending on the information transmitted from on-board ATS/ATC Rack installed in the driver’s compartment.

  • ATS/ATC Rack
    It consists of a redundancy system of 1 system (main operating system) and 2 system (auxiliary operating system) to control ATC and ATS function and interfaces to each other between vehicles and components.
  • ATC Antenna
    It is istalled at the front part of the front axle of the forward of EMU and receives speed code information from the ground signal systemt via the rail.
  • ATS Antenna
    It is a device to transmit the variation signal to ATS/ATC Rack responding to the ATS wayside coil on the control point.
  • ATS Junction Box
    It is an intermediate connection between the ATS Antenna and ATS/ATC Rack and makes it easy to install and maintain the wiring.
  • Tachometer
    It generates pulses according to the rotation of the wheels, and the On-board Signaling System calculates the speed of the train using the pulse signals of the tachometer.

    Operation
    Record Function

    When a fault occurs, it is easy to identify the cause, and it can be used for maintenance work since various driving events occurred during train operation are saved in memory. The information can be downloaded with LAN by using dedicated software. The ADU has a large capacity memory that periodically records information such as transmitted signals from the ATS/ATC Rack, train speed, etc., and saved information can be checked using dedicated software.

    Interface

    Aspect Display Unit displays the operation information such as the speed limit on a 10.4" Touch TFT-LCD and notifies the driver of the audible warning according to the situation. Emergency operation, 15km/h operation, and a pre-departure test can be operated.

    Computation of Train Speed

    It computes the speed with the signal from the Tachometer and the value of wheel diameter.

    System design

    It is possible to operate without any change since it is automatically switched to the standby system in case of operating system failure in operation.

    Self-Test

    It provides test function for safe operation of the train through operating the ATS/ATC system in a virtual sequence of operations before the vehicle leaves the base and checking abnormality of signal and braking device in advance.

    Function

    ATS function of Interittent Control Multi-Variable, continuous velocity inspection mode is integrated with ATC function of ground continuous speed code inspection mode. There is the function of automatic switching and manual switching between ATS / ATC signal systems.
